Ask Zak Han,About Zak's Acupuncture
A: Nice to see you,Dr Han! As an Acupuncturist with 20 years hospital experience.I know you are very busy, I've talked to surgeons, therapists, chiropractors, and family members with bad backs. Everyone tells me something different. Can you tell us about your pain relief acupuncture therapy?why it works?
Zak Han:Ok, Most of the time we "professionals" cannot be certain about the cause of back pain. According to experts, we can only determine the precise cause of back pain about 15% of the time (e.g.,a disc herniation pushing on a nerve causing leg pain). But we all have opinions and most providers are not shy about sharing them. Some day the mystery of back pain will be solved but for now we often have to live with some uncertainty .So,First af all ,We need to know what cause pain?
Pain is a paresthesia and issue protective warning of the body by bacterial inflammation or aseptic inflammation or chemical stimulation of acute traumatic mechanical stimulation. It suggests the tissue disease or injury. Bacterial inflammation can occur in the bone tissue, it can also occur in soft tissues; However, the incidence of aseptic inflammation is only limited in soft tissues, not in bone tissues.
As we all know, pain is associated with the nervous system ,but with which? It's actually due to the spinal soft tissue damage, When the muscles and fascia of the bone got aseptic inflammatory lesions, it's chemically stimulating the inner nerve endings, It would immediately transfer to the brain, and then feed back into the soft tissue lesion and then pain occurs.
In contrast, the traditional concept that "spinal bone proliferation", "disc", "spinal stenosis" “nerve root compression “ ,they think that mechanical stimulation is the main cause which causes chronic pain.
I totally disagree with the traditional theory of oppression leads to pain, because only signs of normal nerve tissue would show when being affected by acute mechanical compression are numbness and paralysis ,but not pain ,depending on different pressure . About chronic mechanical compression, because the nerve tissue has a strong capacity to resist oppression, there wouldn't even be oppression, not to mention pain. Therefore, the traditional doctrine of mechanical compression induced pain does not fit in with the reality.
A: But,About the disc surgery, why do many cases have analgesic effects of different degrees?
Zak Han:Well,Firstly,About the surgery of spinal soft tissue damage , it's mainly because that disc surgery surgeons unconsciously incise and strip those damage sites where the muscle and fascia are connected to the bone and also where pain comes from. And about mixed spinal soft tissue damage, the surgeons also unwittingly release adipose tissue lesions located on epidural and outside of nerve sheath. But because the release is incomplete, in most cases ,It can only achieve the analgesic effect without truly and effectively curing pain, even if such analgesia is achieved, it's merely because that the soft tissue lesions are released, not because disc is taken out. Disc surgery only has short-term satisfactory effects, and in most cases there are various degrees of ease after operation, or in some cases ,the pain temporarily disappears. However, the long-term effect would be very poor, it's easy to relapse after two years. It's therefore being named :Failed Back Surgery Syndrome(FBSS) in the international meeting.
So ,all the facts above indicate that the traditional mechanical compression induced pain is faulty. Name of “Disc herniation "," various types of cervical disease (except spinal) "," spinal stenosis "," Spondylolisthesis " "spinal bone hyperplasia," and "idiopathic scoliosis," should be ended as wrong theories. Surgery is necessary in fewer than 2% of cases of back pain. There are many other effective treatments .So,I suggest patients,Don't Rush into Surgery,Not every disc that herniates (ruptures) requires surgery. An operation should only be considered when there is danger of permanent damage from the herniation pressing on a nerve root governing strength or sensation, or bladder or bowel control. Try non-surgical therapy including acupuncture. It is clear whether the non-surgical therapy or surgical therapy, we must totally destroy the original site of all the tenderness point. That can truly cure chronic pain,
A;What is your pain relief acupuncture?
Zak Han
k,Acupuncture is ancient therapy.About acupuncture,Whether from basic or clinical, lack of a satisfactory explanation .Limbs Point Acupuncture may ease the spasm of soft tissue and reduce inflammation aseptic ,It can analgesia. But traditional acupuncture ban periosteal bone and muscle attachment area which is just soft primary tissue damage site ,Doing traditional acupuncture can limits the efficacy of acupuncture.New soft tissue surgery negate the Meridian and acu-point.Intensive and deeply needle acupuncture in" tender point "which is primary lesions of soft tissue damage pain ,It similar to soft tissue release operation,It is effective for the treatment of primary pain, greatly increased efficacy .It must be pointed out : Tender point of soft tissue surgery different from the point of "Ashi" of Chinese medicine Point, and it is not an isolated, it is the three-dimensional soft tissue lesion which consist of a group of "tender point".so I can say: traditional acupuncture only can do "pain ease",can't do "pain treatment".But Zak's acupuncture can "pain treatment ",Effective and lasting. Why ? please noted :ZAK PAIN RELIEF ACUPUNCTURE SPECIALISE IN TREATING CHRONIC AND DIFFICULT BACK PAIN CASES .According to the theory about this soft tissue diseases and Chinese medicine thoery:”The pressure pain point was selected as needled point", Deeply needling with many needles to reach the bone and tendon at surroundings of the joint of lesion was adopted and the mechanism of deeply and Intensive needle therapy in treatment of soft tissue diseases was investigated. RESULTS: This therapy had functions of dredging channels, activating blood circulation and alleviating pain, relaxing muscles and tendons, and promoting activity of joints, which were stronger and lasted longer timeas compared with general simple acupuncture. Particularly, it had obvious analgesic effect on pain syndrome induced by chronic refractory soft tissue diseases. It is indicated that the mechanism is mainly eliminating aseptic inflammation, increasing local blood supply, relaxing muscular spasm, so as to stop pain caused by inflammation, ischemia and spasm. In deeply acupuncture, long, fine needles are placed on the back to achieve the desired therapeutic effects on deep parts of the lower back. This technique has yielded outstanding results for thousands of patients in China, and has become recognized worldwide as one of the most effective methods for the treatment of a wide variety of difficult-to-manage pain conditions and this technique has been very popular in China.
A:How does your pain relief Acupuncture differ from traditional acupuncture?
Zak Han:Pain relief acupunctue is kind of acupuncture. The major differences is for most conditions results tend to be faster and more effective. In spite of elminating aseptic inflammation, A study found that the technique also can turn off parts of the brain involved in pain, which could explain how the practice may work as an anaesthetic. and The locations of the needling differ. Although the back has numerous traditionally identified acupuncture points along several of the major meridians, My pain relief acupuncture has its own unique treatment zones. In total,It must totally destroy the original site of all the tenderness point , that can truly cure chronic pain.
A:How does your pain relief Acupuncture differ from other deeply acupuncture methods?
Zak Han:One main difference between my pain relief Acupuncture and other styles is that needles are longer and many needles, but almost no pain ,as my long-term medical surgeon backgrand and 20 years experience in acupuncture practice. Of course,The anatomy of selected points, patient size age and constitution all play a role in determining depth of needle insertion. My treatment areas are also located differently, for example
ain site on appropriate trasverse cervical process always associated with headache, migraine, inter scapular pain and cervical spondulosis, area od sacro-iliac joint associated with low back pain, sciatica without neurological deficit, testicular pain, and coracoid process associated with painful shouler joint, medial condyle tibia associated with knee pain ,without advanced pathology, neck of femur associated hip pain ,without major changes evident on X-ray,Lateral aspect of posterior spine of lower lumbar vertebrae,if sacro-iliac joint,as above, does not yield benefif, then there areas may be used. and My ways of manipulating the needles are unique, and sometime plus electroacupuncture(work by the "gate theory" of pain. The principle of the gate theory is that if you can make the nerve recognize a sensation other than pain--such as heat, rubbing, or electrical current--your central nervous system "closes the gate" on any other sensations. This means the pain doesn't register. Electrical currents get to the spinal column much faster than pain impulses, so they are pretty effective at closing that gate). In addition, the simultaneous use of physical and mental exercises greatly enhance our therapeutic results.(some content adapted from Felix Mann M![]()
Ao deeply needles puncture into the organ?
Zak Han:No, The needles used in my pain relief Acupuncture has been good controled by myself.that it is impossible to puncture into organ. Practitioners are trained to avoid needling into important areas,of course, experience and medical backgrand is very nessesary.
A:Can Zak pain relief acupuncture cause paralysis?
.Zak Han:No,It can't .The spinal cord stops high up in the spine (lumbar 1) so there are only nerve roots in the lumbar spine. Nerve roots are very tough structures, so even a sizable disc herniation is very unlikely to cause paralysis ,not to say needles putting on acu-point which located on outside of spinal cord.
Ao deeply needles cause bleeding or infection?
Zak Han: Although the back is richly supplied with blood vessels, there are no large arteries within the treatment zones of my pain relief Acupuncture. Therefore bleeding is rare and, when present, is so minimal that it can be stopped easily by light pressure on the bleeding site. Every practitioner of my pain relief Acupuncture routinely follows an antiseptic procedure on the back, employing only sterilized, single-use disposable needles. The risk of infection is extremely low. Special care is also taken to not needles into inflamed areas.
A:What medical conditions respond well to Zak pain relief acupuncture?
.Zak Han: My pain relief Acupuncture treats the same variety of diseases as body acupuncture. However, it is effective most notably in the treatment of chronic pain and nervous system disorders. Specific examples include: acute and chronic lower back pain syndromes, spinal cord injuries, sciatica,Feeling cold leg ,Orbital pain. Trigeminal neuralgia. Reflex sciatica. Buttock pain. Knee pain. Foot Pain Piriformis Syndrome ,Tennis Elbow,Genital pain( Scrotal pain,Testicular pain,Vaginal pain)Sexual pain, infertility,Urinary frequency,Urgency and Urge incontineuce,Dysmenorrhea.,,,, please noted :ZAK PAIN RELIEF ACUPUNCTURE SPECIALISE IN TREATING CHRONIC AND DIFFICULT BACK PAIN CASES WHICH HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MEDICAL, CHIROPRACTIC OR OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT.
A:Are there clinical tests demonstrating the efficacy of this acupuncture?
Zak Han:Yes. Many clinical reports from China indicate a high degree of effectiveness, many in cases where body acupuncture had not been sufficiently effective.(see my website) I have practiced acupuncture including deeply acupuncture and general acupuncture over 22 years,Most patients we have treated come from word of mouth, and received a referral from a loved one who has received help from me. There is no guarantee in helping all patients with chronic back pain but most of patient who have been given this treatment can be helped.and you also can find a lot of information about my techniques from my website.
A: Very complicated,Good.Thank you very much!
.Zak Han: You’re welcome!
