by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-28 - 15:22:08

Heel pain, plantar fasciitis or heel spur syndrome is caused by an abnormal and excessive pull of the plantar fascia at its insertion. Morning pain and pain after periods of rest is characteristic and can progress to pain all the time. 90% of patients with Heel Pain can be treated successfully without surgical intervention.

Most lower back pain patient haven't disc injury.

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-28 - 15:16:02

There many causes of lower back pain. The lower back called the lumbar spine is made up of 5 vertebrae with their ligamentous attachments and small facet joints. The vertebrea surrounded by muscles and nerves and are separated by shock absorbers called lumbar discs. The most frequent cause of lower back pain is micro trauma to the muscles and ligaments. This type of injury almost always heals itself within about 6 weeks. More significant injuries to the lumbar disc can involved tearing of the covering of the disc called the annulus. The lower back pain associated with this injury is very severe.

So most lower back pain patients haven't disc injury,Zak acupuncture can completely change them.

What are the Causes of Hip Pain, are You at Risk?

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-28 - 15:10:47

Hip pain is a common problem, and it can be confusing for you because there are many causes. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the underlying problem.

HP is very common and can result from numerous different causes. Pain tends to occur commonly in certain age groups - the young (from 0 to 15 years) and older population (45 years of age).

In 1990, researchers estimated that the number of hip fractures would exceed 500,000 by the year 2040 (Cummings et al)Women sustain about 80% of all hip fractures (Stevens et al. 2000).

Hip pain treatment must be directed at the specific cause of your problem. Some signs that you should be seen by a doctor include:

* Your inability to walk comfortably on the affected side of your body
* Injury that causes deformity around your hip joint
* HP that occurs at night or while your resting
* HP that persists beyond a few days
* Your inability to bend at your hip
* Swelling of your hip or in the thigh area
* Signs of a hip infection, including fever, redness, warmth
* Any other unusual symptoms in your hip

Hip pain can have many causes and can happen at all ages, though for very different reasons.

One of the most common causes of pain if you are elderly is arthritis. Most often this is in the form of osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic arthritis, and many other forms of lesser-known types of arthritis can also cause HP.

The second most common cause of hip pain among the elderly is due to fractures from falls. In fact, osteoarthritis actually causes many of the falls that result in hip fractures. Often the pain is due to fractures must be treated with hip replacement surgery to relieve severe chronic hip pain.

Hip pain may also be caused by bursitis, synovitis, or tendonitis. These conditions are most often seen in those involved in athletic activities.

Muscle strains and sprains within the muscles adjoined to the hip can also cause pain and may involve microtears. These causes of HP effectively treated with physical therapy. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications are also used as over the counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or can involve prescribed medications that are either taken orally or injected into the hip area to relieve your pain.

Long-term use of cortisone injections for treatment can cause hip pain. This is due to avascular necrosis. This occurs when there is a loss of blood supply to the bone. The bone then begins to deteriorate. This condition can also be caused by a transplant or from Perthes disease. This disease is a cause of hip pain in children that primarily affects boys between the ages of 5-10. In most cases avascular necrosis, however caused, results in hip replacement surgery.

Another reason for hip pain in children is from congenital dislocation of the hip. This can usually be corrected without the need for surgery. Another cause, in children or adults, is viral illness. HP may also be caused by various malignancies, though this is rarer.

Hip pain may also be caused by Pagets disease, which occurs in adults.

Due to the varying causes of hip pain, it is important to take your personal history into account and consult with your doctor, as well as, the use of surgery, physical therapy, and medications, walking aids may also be appropriate and necessary depending on the cause of your pain.

Acupuncture Practitioner For Your Pain Relief

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-28 - 14:44:55

BY:Keith Ferris--
Mr Keith Ferris is reputable acupuncturist in Bristol

Acupuncture is being increasingly seen as an accurate medical science and not as quackery imported from the Orient. Acupuncture has been accorded a legal status in the United States. Not just anyone can become an acupuncture practitioner and open an acupuncture clinic. Professional training is available and a license is required for becoming an acupuncture practitioner. Many conditions with symptoms of acute pain like tennis elbow, cervical spondylitis, arthritis etc. can be treated successfully through acupuncture.

Acupuncture is a type of therapy for pain relief. It can be used to heal many different physical and emotional ailments. Linked with traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is the placement of small, metallic needles in specific muscles or nerves. Practitioners believe that these needles change the transmission of pain in the nervous system.

Modern allopathy assumes different causes for disease than acupuncture. Acupuncture is based on the idea that health problems are causes by imbalances in fundamental body energies of Chi. An acpuncture practitioner will not only try to remove symptoms, such as pain, but aims to go further and treat the underlying Chi energy balance represented by the opposing forces of Yin and Yan. For example, a Yin deficiency in the liver is said to cause a lack of moisture in tendons responsible for pain free movement. Therefore, not only would pain that hinders mobility be treated, but the liver Yin imbalance as well.

Acupuncture involves using thin needles to pierce the skin and apply pressure to the filters located in the muscles which are in turn connected to the spinal chord. These filters govern the symptoms of pain. To cure an ailment, multiple visits to the acupuncture therapist are needed. The number of such sessions differs from ailment to ailment, and also from patient to patient.

It is important to note that acupuncture therapy should not stop just because the systems have ceased and instead should be continued for at least another year after symptoms cease. A great benefit of this treatment for things like tennis elbow is that it is completely harmless and has no side effects on your body. In fact some people claim that this therapy increases their energy along with fulfilling the primary objective of pain relief.

Acupuncture treats many ailments besides relieving pain. It treats even those ailments that modern medicines could not cure fully. What the present medical system cannot treat, acupuncture treats easily. Acupuncture is one of the alternative treatments for the common cold as well as one of the natural remedies for influenza. Whenever you are suffering from these ailments or feeling the pain, the best solution is to think of going to the nearest acupuncture practitioner.

Acupuncture is becoming an increasingly accepted form of therapy. An acupuncture practitioner will help treat your symptoms using alternative treatments for the common cold. This includes using thin needles to pierce your skin and harness your 'Chi' energies.

Single-point acupuncture and physiotherapy for the treatment of painful shoulder

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-28 - 14:34:03

Vas, J., Ortega, C., Olmo, V., Perez-Fernandez, F., Hernandez, L., Medina, I., Seminario, J. M., Herrera, A., Luna, F., Perea-Milla, E., Mendez, C., Madrazo, F., Jimenez, C., Ruiz, M. A., Aguilar, I.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture associated with physiotherapy for patients with painful shoulder. 425 participants with a clinical diagnosis of unilateral subacromial syndrome received 15 sessions of physiotherapy during the 3 weeks that the treatment lasted and were randomized to additionally receive, once a week, acupuncture or mock TENS.

Single-point acupuncture in association with physiotherapy improves shoulder function and alleviates pain, compared with physiotherapy as the sole treatment. This improvement is accompanied by a reduction in the consumption of analgesic medicaments.

Patient's letter: Spinal arthritis and TCM Acupuncture

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 18:24:41

I have a former orthopaedic doctor who practices Chinese medicine . At the same visit in which he diagnosed me with spinal arthritis, he also told me I had blocked chi at the lower back.

I didn't know much about either diagnosis, so I researched them both.
"Blocked chi at the lower back" actually makes a lot of sense. Chi is energy, and it moves through the body like a river. My worst pain is in my back - where this energy would essentially back up if it couldn't move any higher.

While Western medicine doesn't offer us much, Acupuncture has a bit more to offer. I get acupuncture and Chinese herb medicine they've made a world of difference. I still have pain, but a lot less than I used to.

Certainly, not everyone can find a doctor who's trained in both forms of medicine, but if you're at all interested in alternative treatments, you may want to see if you can find someone credible to give you a diagnosis from a different point of view.

From Patient letter.

Acupuncture for urinary incontince,Q&A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 12:22:59

Patient was injured at work when a trech collapsed and buried him chest high. This was two years ago and he has left femoral nerve damage with quad atrophy, so he can not walk properly. He wears a leg brace. He also has L5-S1 disc herniation per MRI. He has frequent urinary incontince. We are being told the MRI does not suggest that the incontince would be related because they are not sure there is spinal cord compression.

It is a common misconception that urinary incontince stems always from the pressure of a slipped disc or a spinal cord compression. This is misleading, the cause of urinary incontince is also inflammation of soft tissue stimulating urinary nerves, causing the urinary incontince.normally it happen in L1/L2 region.

Deep and intensive acupuncture can help!(not general acupuncture)

Take care

Acupuncture for groin pain case,Q&A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 12:19:17
Patient have had inguinal groin pain for the last 5 years...was diagnosed with small inguinal hernia (both sides) which was repaired . The pain is worsened by activity including walking and standing for long periods. The feeling is one of having a painful lump in the inguinal area that feels very heavy and painful with pain radiating down the outer front of her thigh.Patient have had numerous MRI's, pelvic ultrasound and still no diagnosis or resolution to the groin pain. Patient have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis is the lumbar region.have been told by her neurosurgeon (recently deceased) that it is doubtful the groin pain is caused by the stenosis.

"you have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis is the lumbar region, that it is doubtful the groin pain is caused by the stenosis........"

I agree with your doc,it's due to back problem, but ,It is a common misconception that Groin pain stems always from the pressure of a slipped disc or a stenosis. This is misleading, the cause of groin pain is also inflammation of lower back tissue stimulating your groin nerves, causing the pain signal.in short,it's conduct pain.

So,understand your condition, then acupuncture or deep massage for lower back area can help.can acupuncture really work? it dependent on where the inflammation is acupuncture can help with back pain. Acupuncture works well when the inflammation is outside of the spinal column. Acupuncture does not work when the inflammation is in the spinal column itself.
Good luck!

Acupuncture for back pain ,Q&A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:35:11

Patient have problems in his lumbar area. Recently his neck pain has been HORRIBLE. he had an MRI and the results say "annular tear at c4-c5 and c5-c6. Mild shallow disc protrusion at c5-c6 and overall noncompressive. No significant central canal or forminal stenosis. No large protrusion oe extrusion of disc material". The pain is terrible and he has limited mobility in my neck. he also have right shoulder pain.

Mild disc protrusion almost same as disc herniated, but,It is a common misconception that neck pain always stems from the pressure of a slipped disc or a trapped nerve. This is misleading, the cause of neck pain is also inflammation stimulating nerves, causing the pain signal.most of neck pain like this.
So you should go and see reputable doctor for second opinion...
Good luck!

Acupuncture for knee pain case,Q&A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:30:28

Patient have this severe knee pain in her right knee, when there is no movement. If she is sitting in the car for a long time and am unable to stretch my legs for some time, her knee starts aching severely. the past few days, this pain has become unbearable. There is no pain after she stretch her legs or even after exercising Also, there is the popping sound if the knee joints when she squat/fold them often.

Popping within the knee is quite common, and often not a symptom of any particular problem. When the pops are painless, there is usually no problem.

Anyway,if you want get right opinion, give us more detail.

Acupuncture for back spasm.Q& A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:24:17

Patient have had lower back pain since high school.when he was 27. doctors find nothing wrong, but the pain gets so intense he can't walk some days and others he is fine. recently patient have been having spontaneous back spasms unrelated to exertion or movement, and sometime it happened so intensely he began vomiting. he've had an mri and many x-rays with no obvious signs of nerve or bone damage. muscle relaxers sometimes help , but he can't keep self-treating this way.

The cause of the your muscle spasm lies in the fact that the soft tissue injury stimulate ligament, lead to pain, because you have chronic injury history.Since this ligament contains nerves, the back muscles go into spasm as part of the body's effort to immobilize the painful area. except tablet,I don't think spine massage can work, maybe you can try acupuncture, good luck!

Acupuncture for facet syndrom,It works or not?

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:16:25

Patient have been dealing with severe pain going in right butuck, thigh, calf to top of foot nor hospital tell her facet syndrome possible and want her to do a mylogram and a different type of bone scan ......

Medicines can help relieve pain, and reduce inflammation and muscle spasms.
But,my opinion is that I don't agree to name of diagnosis,as treatment of facet syndrome is exactly same as soft tissue injury around facet joint,so any treatment works for soft tissue injury,it also works for this problem.Take care!

For facet syndrome ,general acupuncture doesn't work very well, there are have special acupuncture therapy knowed as deep and intensive acupuncture, which is medical acupuncture and very popular therapy in China.
But,this acupuncture works for you? it's dependent on where the inflammation is acupuncture can help with facet joint pain. Acupuncture works well when the inflammation is outside of the spinal column. Acupuncture does not work when the inflammation is in the spinal column itself. so you should make sure that you have nothing wrong in spine.
Good luck!

Acupuncture doesn't work for blind case.

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:11:03

Patient about 3 years ago hurt her back whilst carrying a box. This made her back and neck spasm she then lost the use holding her arms in the air or behind her back. Then her face swelled up and neck with fluid, In the last year she has gone blind, as the hosiptal said the blood supply to the optic nreve is compramised.

Except blind, does she suffer from weakness and/or numbness on one side of the face or in one arm or leg. difficulty talking ,loss of coordination, dizziness, difficulty swallowing?
if so,the best choice is medical procedures in reputable hospital, alternative med does't work for this.Take care!

Acupuncture for back pain ,Q&A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:06:31

patient back started to give him problems. his back started to feel really tight, the tightness starts at his shoulders and goes all the way down to his lower back. patient said :it feels extremely uncomfortable and is always accompanied by a severe itchiness of the back. it is very uncomfortable to sleep and on occasion he wake up and his neck is extremly sore. sometimes it feels like his back is being pinched ,no matter how much he try to stretch his back or relax the muscle it brings no relief

I think that: original problem was neck soft tissue injury,so inflammated tissue can lead to neck sore, shoulder pain ,even back pain,
if pain constant,u should go to see doc, Deep massage and acupuncture can help,if you didn't suffer from disc injury (Need MRI scan).
Good luck!

Acupuncture for chest pain ,Q & A

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-25 - 11:00:43

Since morning, patient is having chest pain on his upper left back while breating. also chest pains occuring when He try to breath deeply. wat is causing this pain? its really irritating.

Hi,it's seem muscle strains, another reason is joint dysfunction ,as you know ,the ribs connect with the vertebrae in the thoracic spine by two joints that connect with each side of the spine. dysfunction in these joints can result in upper back pain.
So if pain constant, you should go to see doc.
Good luck!

Acupuncture for facet syndrom,Is it works?

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-24 - 23:44:05

patient have been dealing with severe pain going in right butuck, thigh, calf to top of foot , anyway is there anyone else that has went through this and what was the treatment to fix it?

Medicines can help relieve pain, and reduce inflammation and muscle spasms.
But,my opinion is that I don't agree to name of diagnosis,as treatment of facet syndrome is exactly same as soft tissue injury around facet joint,so any treatment works for soft tissue injury,it also works for this problem.Take care!

Acupuncture for back pain case

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-24 - 23:39:31

Patient was diagnosed with herniation of L5S1 about 24 years ago. Had a procedure done then to fix the disc and really did pretty well until the last couple of years. Am now having a lot of trouble with jumping muscles and weakness in mainly right leg along with numbness and tremor of right leg and foot and some pain in my back. Had MRI that showed herniation again of L5SI and degeneration of 2 other discs. He had steroid injections, but these did not help.

Compression doesn't means pain come from, inflammation around L4/L5 play main role for pain coming. So Spinal Decompression Therapy works or not?
Dependent on where the inflammation is spinal decompression therapy can help with back pain. spinal decompression therapy works well when the inflammation is outside of the spinal column. spinal decompression therapy does not work when the inflammation is in the spinal column itself.

Acupuncture for neck pain case

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-24 - 23:35:16

Patient have chronic neck pain. At the base of her skull in back of neck where the indentations are on each side. Around her period and ovulation the pain is so severe she start vomiting. The pain last 20-30 hours at a time. No relief with meds slight relief with ice. Heat makes it worse.

Hi,here,
According your symptom,It's seem soft tissue injury in you neck, "Around your period and ovulation the pain is getting severe,"as this may increase your hormonal strength and lead to a variety of symptoms-such as joint/muscle pain and stiffness.
So,compare with many alternative med,Intensive acupuncture is doing good job for this.Good luck!

Acupuncture for knee pain

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-24 - 23:29:02

All he have been told is doctor does not know why it is staying swollen and it still hurts and wants another opinion, but a rheumatologist? med help

Acupuncture for spondylolisthesis case

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-24 - 22:19:37

Patient was diagnosed of there is anterior displacement of l5 in relation to s1.the pars interarticularis of l5 is irregular suggestive frature..the rest of the vertebral bodies and disk spaces are intact...grade 1 spondylolisthesis,l5 over s1,spondylolysis of l5...she was undergo rehab treatment for more than a year but my autie still complaining pain and sometimes numbness and tingling sensation radiating to her both lower extremities..

It is a common misconception that back pain always stems from the pressure of a slipped disc,a trapped nerve or spondylolisthesis. This is misleading, the cause of pain is inflammation stimulating nerves, causing the pain signal,so if there are no inlammation around L5/S1,even though spondylolisthesis existing, patient can't feel pain.

Surgery or Unsurgery?it dependent on where the inflammation is . Unsurgery therapy works when the inflammation is outside of the spinal column. unsurgery therpay does not work when the inflammation is in the spinal column itself.

How to know where inflammation? you should go to doc.
Good luck!

Alternative medicine? is it right solution?

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-24 - 17:32:38

Simon Singh & Edzard Ernst explain in detail the history and scientific evidence (or lack there of) for acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic and herbal medicine; and there is a handy Appendix for amusing dismissals of other fads such as ear candles or craniosacral therapy.

The results: acupuncture might be good for some pain and nausea but little else (and as better "fake" acupuncture for controlled trials is developed, the evidence seems to weaken further). A few herbs look OK for very specific conditions, chiropractic does nothing except maybe for your spine (but it might sever your arteries), and homeopathy is balls.

Well, people always talk about"Fake Acupuncture",in fact,That's because they don't really know acupuncture and don't really know new developed acupuncture in China.

In China TCM hospital, there are have huge research about acupuncture point(someone new, someone traditional),It's misleading for people that acupuncture have to put needls in traditional acupoints. So that's nothing about fake acupuncture.

To learn acupuncture, you have to go to China, not somewhere else.

Be careful ! Acupuncture in neck,,,

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-18 - 11:11:34

Acupuncture case studies:

A 44-year-old Chinese man developed severe occipital headache, nausea, and vomiting during acupuncture treatment of the posterior neck for chronic neck pain. Computed tomography of the head showed hemorrhage in the fourth, third, and lateral ventricles. A lumbar puncture confirmed the presence of blood. Magnetic resonance angiography with gadolinium did not reveal any saccular aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations. The patient's headache resolved over a period of 28 days without any neurological deficits. Acupuncture of the posterior neck can cause acute intracranial hemorrhage.

Acupuncture for retarded ejaculation

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-18 - 10:43:19

Some men have difficulty ejaculating (coming) or cannot ejaculate. Delayed or retarded ejaculation happens more often with intercourse and less often with masturbation. It can occur occasionally and may not be an ongoing problem. With some men, delayed ejaculation happens nearly every time they have sexual intercourse and is of concern.

Normally west medicine haven't solution about this, but acupuncture can doing good job for this trouble

by Acupuncturist @ 2008-05-17 - 17:12:53

In reaching its conclusion, the American Academy of Neurology's Therapeutics and Technology Assessment Subcommittee reviewed four studies on epidural steroid injections for back pain with sciatica.

Based on the findings, epidural steroid shots are not recommended for long-term back pain relief, improving back function, or preventing back surgery, write neurology professor and subcommittee member Carmel Armon, MD, MHS, and colleagues

Most of my patients were chronic back pain suffers, and had injections history,it seem no body get really relive.
