The lack of blinding could cause bias, but should have been in the direction of acupuncture doing better if patients or therapists believed that it would. There was no difference.
Acupuncture doesn't work on the basis of these results. low quality studies that more often say that acupuncture does work. It helps explain why small, low quality studies in acupuncture, or anything else, should be ignored.

Some idea is The advantages of acupuncture as a major proponent in this addiction treatment model is that it is beneficial to both a patient who is off of drugs, or for someone who is still using. Also, if patients are not yet receptive to communicating or may have language barriers, it doesn't have to mean a delay in treatment- acupuncture needs little or no verbal participation. This gives the professionals more time to review and diagnose an individual. Patients tend to be more open and calm, because they don't have the added pressure of having to begin counseling immediately.

Well, I tried it once, when I had two herniated discs. It made it a little better, but I had a positive approach, and believed it would. But then, my glass is always half full and I look on the bright side. I always believe that everything can be controlled with mind over matter. I would use it again though.
