It's safe to say that most patients with neck pain don't ever get 100 per cent better. Up to 85 per cent still have neck pain five years later. Older age, poor health, and a previous history of neck pain are negative risk factors for prognosis. This means patients with these risk factors aren't as likely to get better compared with younger patients in good health with no previous history of neck pain.

About 9 months ago,Patient felt a slight pain just inside his right shoulder blade but when he put his head forward it sorta popped like when someone stretch his shoulders back.he was fine and thought nothing about it until he felt it again a week later in which he did the same thing and popped it again.another week passed and he felt the pain again but this time was unable to pop it like before.Six months later and he's still carrying this pain which is now a stinging or burning pain under his right armpit which is very uncomfortable.he is currently doing exercises given to him by the physio which only seem to aggrevate it.Im still at a loss what this is as he get little relief from pain killers
Zak said:As far as diagnosis, treatment or cure, more information is needed . Regarding the armpit pain, you should consider a musculoskeletal cause or a nerve impingement in NECK. Take care!

Zak said:From the information given I would say that you has suffered what is sometimes called a soft tissue injury to the cervical spine which could have been present before the accident. The accident though could aggravate and bring about more symptoms from this pre-existing problem. So MRI maybe not neccesary
