Can acupuncture prevent swine flu?
A.There are no research about acupuncture whether help swine flu or not. In China, Chinese acupuncture may prevent general flu by puncturing Zusanli(acupoint),but haven't high quality research. What we do know is that if your immune system is functioning properly, the change that you get any kind of flu is smaller. So lets concentrate on how we can improver our immune system. We know that stress lowers our resistance, fatigue also. These are things that are easily treated with acupuncture. So we can do some prevention in the sense of general prevention that we use against your normal everyday flu.
There are two methods for prevention. NOT for TREATMENT
1 Acupuncture Zusanli ,one side, full application method (strong), the needle sensation required - numbness is up to the dorsalis pedis, then remove needle.
treatment only once
2, Bilateral Zusanli, piercing two inch(TCM inch), weakly stimulus, leaving the needles for 15 minutes, the needle sense required to reach toe . treatment only once
So,If you are experiencing stress or fatigue, go to an approved acupuncturist! There is no assurance you will not be infected with the swine flu, but your immune system will be stronger. If you would happen to catch the swine flu, please do not fare blindly on alternative medicine alone. ring your doctor.please!
