20 years ago,Patient's throat problem began,Feeling that He couldn't swallow properly and that something at back of his throat wasn't closing properly,,,,,,Continued until present.Daily feelings of tightness from right side of the jaw to right shoulder,including shoulder blade and chest.
Various GPs have said this is due to a post nasal drip and sinus sparys have failed to treat it.
Two years ago,while listing to relaxation tapes regularly he began to get unusual sensations in his face,throat and neck.random tingling,pinpricks,and "cobaweb" feelings in outer right ear,right cheek,right eye socket,and tip of nose thoughout the day.feeling of coolness or burning on right side of the scalp at top of the head and around the right cheekbone along with feeling of stretching or release of muscle.feelings of skin being stretched,Unable to feel the muscles moving on right side of his forehead as He can on the left,very occasional spasming or pinprick sensations in upper right arm and leg muscle.
Chiropractor fro 9 weeks, It did temporarily improve the feeling of swalling in his throat but never felt completely corrected.
one years ago,Had a very sore throat for which He took day nurse cough medicine,don't seem to happen right afer taking the medicine.
Present:Still get pricking sensation all over the right side of his face,scalp and neck randomly,the feeling of tightness across the right cheeckbone and forehead is still there.

pain on left side of neck by throat - lump sensation when swallowing
Your symptoms? left root of tongue painful, also left side of neck and throat, diffulculty and pain when swallowing. All pain is related to left side under chin. Symptoms identical to condition known as Cricopharyngeal Spasm or Tongue Neck syndome. Condition sometimes just disappears, then returns after waking up in morning. Accute neck movement has cured it before.
His GP has sent him for Ultrusound scan - nothing found. Blood tests on liver and electrolyte levels. Elecrolyte level was high reading so another test will be taken and also thyroid function. Blood pressure normal, urine tests for diabetes - normal. Past history(including past treatment) Have had deep muscle tension in past requiring neck traction to gain relief. One or 2 treatments including traction, heat, accupuncture and cupping had mixed results. Most effective was traction as previous Chinese spine doctor stated problem with C2 and lower spinal roots.

Research:A study conducted at the Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, Scotland concluded that acupuncture has a significant role to play in the treatment of facial pain. In fact, during this study of 201 patients treated over a 10 year period, 62.7% experienced improvement. Of those suffering from pain at the joint that hinges the lower jaw to the skull (temperomandibular joint), also known as TMJ, 46% were cured, and 67% experienced a significant decrease in pain.
Nazim Merchant, Consultant Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgeon who conducted the study, also reported that there was a 62.9% improvement in patients with nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia).
